another Itchy-Twitchy topic

One of the apparently many things I'm tired of is the whole topic of being offended. I'm tired of people who worry about offending others too much, and
I'm equally tired of people who are quick to say that this or that offends them and for others to grovel accordingly because of their hurt feelings.

Now, of course, this kind of new idea is probably not going to work every day, all the time, but here's how it seems to work. In the classic case of an
offence, it's the person who did or said the offensive thing that is always punished universally, even if the person did not mean it or did not wake up
intending to offend somebody. The offended person never ever gets punished for having such a thin skin or a reactionary nature. So to feel offended is
always right, but to offend is always wrong. Like I pointed out elsewhere, people seem to be ill-equipped to cope with much of life these days. People
just grow up expecting to get their way and to win awards just for breathing air. But I think especially in cases where a person did not intend to offend
others and a person feels offended, the offended person should at least get a good lecturing on the value of thickening the skin.
