Accessibility Comments:

The app is almost accessible 100 percent. However most of the image controls you click on don’t have very good labels. I tried contacting the developer but they don’t seem to understand what I mean by accessible controls. They keep saying thanks for your feedback, we’re glad to have you on board.”

Usability:

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Other Comments:

I hope this app does become accessible at some point where the controls are labeled, it is a very handy app to use, I use it on my mac and android device, but there is mysms mirror for ios I believe.

Reverb for Amazon Alexa

Category:

Description of App:

Reverb allows you to interact with Alexa from anywhere. Via Alexa, Reverb answers questions, reports traffic and weather, gives info on local businesses, provides sports scores and schedules, and more using the Alexa Voice Service. Reverb now uses Alexa v2, which adds support for timers, alarms, long form audio, audiobooks, and more. It can also interact with smart devices that are compatible with Alexa, such as lights, switches, and thermostats compatible Samsung SmartThings, WeMo, Philips Hue, and others. Alexa is always learning new features, plus thousands of skills like 1-800-flowers, Animal Sounds, and more Reverb does not support music due to Alexa doesn’t allow use of Amazon Music in apps. Only hardware implementations are allowed to play Amazon Music. Try Asking Questions: Alexa, set a timer for 5 minutes. Alexa, set volume to 4. Alexa, set an alarm for 5 pm. Alexa, why is the sky blue? Alexa, how many ounces are in a cup? Alexa, how far is the moon? Alexa, tell me a joke. Alexa, what is 16 plus 41 multiplied by 24? Alexa, do you know Siri? Alexa, sing happy birthday. Try enabling other skills via voice Alexa, enable Campbell’s Kitchen. Alexa, ask Campbell’s Kitchen what’s for dinner. An Amazon account is required in order to sign in and use Alexa service.

Accessibility Comments:

For the most part, this works well with VoiceOver. When you first launch the app, you will be presented with a screen that contains an unlabeled button. Pressing this button takes you to the Amazon page where you enter your account details to use the Alexa voice service. Once that is done, you’re good to go. When you wish to talk to Alexa, press the space bar twice, speak your question, and press space. You should hear the response immediately. I have found this method to be much more reliable than trying to press and hold the speak button with VoiceOver.

Usability:

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver, but the interface could be easier to navigate and use.

Other Comments:

Even though I have an Amazon Echo, I love having access to the Alexa service on my Mac. It’s also handy when I’m not around my Echo.

– Fully keyboard-driven, with one-key bindings for commonly-used commands.
– Multiple selection in the task list.

– Displays general metadata (task counts, etc.) about the task list.

# ARE YOU NEW TO THE TODO.TXT FORMAT? SEE WHAT IT OFFERS:

## A task list that *you* control

Your task list is a plain text file, not some proprietary format owned by a company or locked to a specific application.

## A simple and timeless format

Plain text is the simplest file format there is. It will always be accessible, by some kind of application, forever.

## Few rules to learn

Learn only a few simple formatting rules (which SwiftoDo will take care of for you) to indicate task priority, task completion, and so on.

## A GTD-ready system

The todo.txt format was built with Getting Things Done in mind. It supports projects (which begin with a “+”) and contexts (which begin with a “@“).

## Use alongside any app on any platform

This app plays nicely with file sync software. It saves changes instantly, and reloads the file when changes are detected from external sources.

Other Comments:

I love the iphone app and mac. Simple and effective for use, including with my Braille line entering the workflow, because the markup is made in document without formatting. Can I take on line and then open on the mac, with synchronize dropbox and edit the file on the iphone. With Ulysses and Macjournal in writing and taking notes, respectively, needed a program accessible to tasks that support markup. I’m quite happy with Swiftodo.

Every tool bar, menu element, and appropriately tagged section of a PDF is completely accessible with Voice Over. I had no problem navigating the menu bars, tool bars, different editing options, signature areas, PDF documents, and every other aspect of the Adobe Acrobat DC app while completing some IRS related forms. Some might be caught off guard with VO J not taking you to the PDF form, forcing one to know that you interact with the form where VO reads the location of the file while navigating around on the main screen. Its still advisable to navigate into the Preferences and Edit menu and check Screen Reader in the accessibility options.

Usability:

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments:

Finally Adobe Acrobat is accessible for VO users.
